Belinda Block

At a glance
Belinda Block offers leadership coaching in for directors, VPs, and emerging executives ready for bigger roles. Programs include one-on-one engagements (6 months), targeted 90-day coaching for specific transitions, and team coaching for intact leadership teams. All work is grounded in industrial/organizational psychology and structured around the specific challenges leaders face in pace and culture.

Most leadership advice is written for people who haven’t actually done the job. Frameworks that work on slides. Acronyms that fall apart the first week you try to apply them to a team that’s burned out, a peer who’s competing with you, and a manager whose priorities shift every quarter.

Leadership coaching with me is the opposite. It’s grounded in the work you’re actually doing, the people you’re actually managing, and the constraints you’re actually navigating. It’s built for leaders in  who are past the point where another book or another course is going to move them forward.

What Leadership Coaching Is (and Isn’t)

Leadership coaching is not therapy. It’s not mentorship. It’s not management consulting. It’s not a friend you pay to listen.

It’s a structured, confidential thinking partnership focused on how you lead — the decisions you make, how you make them, how you communicate them, and how you adjust when they don’t land the way you intended.

The work is forward-looking but anchored in what’s actually happening this month. We don’t spend sessions reflecting on your childhood or theorizing about leadership in the abstract. We talk about the meeting you have on Thursday, the team member you’ve been avoiding, the strategy you can’t seem to get your peers behind, and the version of yourself you want to be in those situations.

What you should expect: someone who pushes back, names what they see, and doesn’t agree with you just to keep the relationship comfortable.

Who Benefits Most

The leaders who get the most out of coaching with me share a few traits, regardless of their title or industry:

  • They’re already good at what they do — coaching multiplies skill, it doesn’t substitute for it.
  • They’ve reached a point where the things that got them here aren’t enough for what’s next.
  • They’re willing to look honestly at their own contribution to the patterns they’re stuck in.
  • They have the autonomy and authority to actually act on what we work on.

Career-stage-wise, that usually means:

  • Directors and senior directors taking on broader scope or more strategic accountability
  • VPs and SVPs who manage managers and need to lead through influence as much as authority
  • Emerging executives on the path to the C-suite who need to develop the breadth their next role demands
  • Founders and CEOs who lead small to mid-sized companies and want a thinking partner who isn’t on their cap table

Coaching Programs I Offer

I work in three formats, depending on what you need:

One-on-one executive coaching. Six-month engagements with monthly 90-minute sessions and async access between. This is the highest-impact format and what most senior leaders choose. Includes structured 360-degree feedback and a behavioral assessment as part of the first two months.

Targeted 90-day engagements. A shorter, more focused container for leaders working through a specific transition — a new role, a reorganization, a difficult personnel decision, a leadership reputation issue surfaced by feedback. Three sessions, structured, intentionally finite.

Team coaching. For executives who want to coach their leadership team together, not just themselves. Designed for senior leadership teams trying to function as more than the sum of their parts. Custom scope.

How  Leadership Differs

I work with leaders in many cities.  has its own thing going on.

The pace is faster, and that has costs. Decisions get made in hours that would take a week somewhere else, and the ones that get made too quickly accumulate. The boards are more demanding. The talent market is more brutal — your best people always have somewhere else to go.

The leadership culture also rewards directness in ways other cities don’t. That’s mostly a gift, but it can cross over into bluntness that erodes trust. Many of the leaders I work with in have a feedback loop that tells them “we’re direct, we’re efficient” — and a separate feedback loop from their team that says “this culture is exhausting.”

Coaching that doesn’t understand the actual context you’re leading in misses the work.  isn’t San Francisco isn’t Chicago isn’t London. I’ve been coaching leaders here long enough to know the patterns specific to this market.

Client Outcomes

What changes for leaders who do this work seriously:

  • Faster, cleaner decisions. Less second-guessing, less time stuck in analysis, more conviction on the calls that matter.
  • Communication that actually lands. The same message that used to require three follow-ups starts landing the first time.
  • A team that needs less. Reports who solve problems instead of escalating them, take ownership instead of waiting for direction.
  • Honest input you can trust. A relationship with the truth that doesn’t depend on the people around you being willing to speak up.
  • A sustainable rhythm. The same workload feels different when you’re carrying it differently.

Most clients can name three or four specific outcomes by the end of an engagement that wouldn’t have happened without it. The coaching pays for itself in the first decision it changes.

Schedule a Consultation

The starting point is a 30-minute call. Free, confidential, and focused on whether coaching with me is the right fit for the work you’re trying to do. If it’s not, I’ll say so.
